How do you build a business you love and feel on purpose without driving yourself to burnout?
Joel Primus, award winning documentary film-maker and author of Getting Naked: the Bare Necessities of Entrepreneurship, believes that stripping back is the key to fulfillment in our success-driven culture.
Joel grew up loving long distance running. As an elite athlete, he represented Canada at the World Youth Games.
It was his goal to be the best. To take on other athletes around the world and come out on top every time, but with goals like these comes massive amounts of pressure and self-expectation.
This pressure was crippling for Joel, and eventually led to losing himself and being unable to compete. Fortunately, these lessons stuck with him when he shifted his focus towards entrepreneurship.
Joel believes that “Entrepreneurship is the journey to self discovery to help us create the opportunities that allow us to find the points of entry into our pain, to release our pain, so we can truly be happy.”
Today, Joel is a serial entrepreneur, author, speaker, former elite marathon runner, the founder of a premium underwear brand, “Naked,” and the founder of Kosan Travel, one of the most successful Kickstarter apparel products of all time.
In this episode of Rock Your Money, Rock Your Life, Joel and I discuss the bare necessities of entrepreneurship, how his love for running led him down a slippery slope, and why personal growth is the key to building a business you love.
